mintsnow asked: With regards to the Haikyuu!! subs I've found that so far the commie sub releases have not only been more accurate as far as volleyball terminology goes but they do not seem to have the same clumsy errors that crunchyroll does. For instance in this weeks episode they translated Tsukki properly, not transforming it into that monstrosity that crunchyroll did, and they translated Kageyama's line to Hinata at the end to "let's win tomorrow" instead of "we're going to win tomorrow".

Someone else mentioned that Commie’s stuff wasn’t good (or rather, that they weren’t a good team?), but I honestly don’t keep up with the groups, so I’d sooner take someone’s word for it about their accuracy. If that’s so, then very impressive!

I mean, CR works on a time crunch (no pun intended), so I can forgive some things. The very instance I’m complaining about, really, could just be poor proofing/not really thinking about it under the pressure of time.

Tsookie, though. Someone’s head needs to go on a stake for that. Reminds me shudderingly of “Ritchie” or whatever for Ritsu’s nickname (りっちゃん) in Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi; also CrunchyRoll.

I remember that Commie replaced the Free! title while Free! was airing with Gay Swimming!, so I was reluctant to watch their subs at first. Also I’ve heard them called trollsubs before since they sometimes put memes in their subs. But I think they’re doing a good job with Haikyuu!! so far, no weird stuff.

I know a lot of people choose HS subs since they’re out the fastest, but the ones for HQ come out at like 3AM on Saturday for me (US pleb here) so I don’t see the point in staying up when I could wake up on Sunday and grab Commie releases without the Tsookie shit. (And CR never subs the OP or ED).

I don’t know a lot about other subs. I think Deadfish is basically the same script but with re-encoding? Whatever that means, I’m no subber. I think the sound was louder, though. I don’t know much about Hatsuyuki, but they sub the OP and ED in both Japanese and English, which is nice. But they release a couple of days after the episode comes out, so I think it’s best to use them for archiving, not for Sunday releases.

I would probably recommend Commie for a mix of good translation/release time, but if people want fast releases, then that’s what HS is for. Unless Crunchyroll delays stuff, which happened with KlK a lot last season.

6 AM: jogging

7:15: unburden soul to total stranger, lacking better options

3 PM: visit own museum exhibit to stare at the Dead Best Friend Wall

4:30: attempt meaningful human connection with sole surviving contemporary; fail due to Alzheimer’s

what she says: i’m fine

what she means: I’m staring into a lightless abyss. Steve Roger’s unconditional loyalty to Bucky Barnes has made me a shell of a human being; the fact that Bucky saved Steve’s life without even really knowing who he was has crushed my soul. If you’re not here to talk to me about the winter soldier, don’t talk to me at all. I’m with you til the end of the line, pal.

"What were you doing for the last three years?"

Pasting from our email convo!

A lot of people thought he was a dick for it (I guess taking it as ‘you are utterly untalented, wtf are you even doing here? Have you just been pissing around the last 3 years?’) but I…

I think it was kind of like Kageyama wondering what Hinata had being doing for the past 3 years, since he had all this talent but didn’t learn how to use it correctly. In the second chapter Kageyama says Hinata has talent, but didn’t make any use of it. (He also calls him a clumsy bastard on the same page lol). And he also goes on to say that Hinata wasted the last 3 years. So I do kind of take it as Kageyama looking down on Hinata a little, but he definitely mellows out later on. :D And they become good ol’ teammates/rivals!
